Well now that my website is up and live, I suppose I had better tell you something about what I intend to do with it. First, though, thank you for dropping by to see me and a huge thank you to Brenda Gael Smith for designing and constructing the site for me.
A bit about myself – by day I am a not-so-mild-mannered Finance and Administration Manager (with a bit of HR, EA to the CEO, plant waterer, and whatever else needs to be done thrown in…) but out of business hours I am passionate about art in many forms. I originally intended to become a High School art teacher, but life took a few turns and I ended up, happily, here. I have come and gone as far as seriously practicing my art throughout the years as priorities have changed through life, but I don’t ever intend to lose my grip on it again. Life is too short to give up what you are passionate about and what makes you happy.
You will see, as time and blog posts go by, that I work in both mixed media (with an emphasis in textiles and hand stitching) and works on paper, including coloured pencils, watercolour, and more recently collagraph printing. I intend to use this blog to show what I do, and how, and to promote other artists and events. I don’t intend to just stick to one form of art, but it will be media that I enjoy myself so mixed media and works on paper (or canvas) will probably proliferate. You might even see a photo or two of my stunning commute to and from my day job in Sydney. It’s a 2hr commute each way but really – would you complain if you had to see this each day? I’m not complaining when I have my beloved Hawkesbury River to view.
And while I commute, I get to sketch my fellow commuters (my daughter calls me a stalker) –
Or even myself –
But what I really promise is to not bombard you with too many posts. I’m not that good at putting the time aside.
Hoping that you are still interested in what I have to say.
Lots of love,
Julie-Anne
